Foods within this category that offer high concentrations of Omega 3 fatty acids which work well as anti-aging foods include salmon, tuna, olive oil, flax seeds, walnuts, almonds, and avocado. These should be a main staple in your diet always for anti aging and for lowering blood pressure, cholesterol, and working towards preventing heart disease.

There is another category of anti-aging foods that have one thing in common and that is their high concentration of antioxidants. These antioxidants found within this list of foods help to fight off any toxins or foreign substances found within the body.

So that means that they can help to fight off illness or even prevent disease such as cancer. They also help you to have clear skin and look and feel your healthiest and best. Foods that are high in antioxidants include dark leafy greens, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, broccoli and even an extremely small amount of high-percentage cocoa dark chocolate.

Though red wine used to be on this list, the medical community is increasingly stepping away from this claim. While red wine does indeed contain antioxidants and other beneficial properties, it also contains alcohol and a series of other substances that work against your health in both the short- and long-term. Therefore, it has been removed from this list.

Fruits and Veggies Are Nearly All Anti-Aging Foods

When you think of anti-aging foods you also need to focus on certain fruits and vegetables to round out the list. This is great news because we need to eat those ingredients every day for overall health. We might as well be doing so for additional benefits along the way.

For example, sweet potatoes are high in beta carotene which can help to keep your skin clear. The same holds true for spinach which is high in iron and folate which help with appearance and physical condition. Be sure to include citrus fruits that are high in Vitamin C that boost your immune system and make you look and feel better from the inside out.

The darker or more vibrant the color of the fruit or vegetable the more nutrients and antioxidants it contains, and the better that this helps you to fight the common signs of aging. Moreover, using colors to help guide you can also be beneficial because it makes a plate more visually appealing (we eat with our eyes first!) and adding many different colors helps you to know that you’re adding a spectrum of different nutrients instead of repeating the same ones across all the ingredients on your plate.
